I am an Assistant Professor of Political Theory at the department of Political Science at Radboud University. My research interests include the theory and practice of past and present forms of radical democracy, workplace democracy, council communism, social movements and revolution.
My first book, Living Democracy, explores the development and contestation of political thought on council politics in the German Revolution of 1918-1919. I was involved in the research project Vive la Commune! as a postdoctoral researcher, where I study past and present forms of communalist politics. The project resulted in the edited volume Communalism as a Democratic Repertoire. Recently, I also developed an interest in the nexus of epistemic democracy, workplace democracy and the struggle against climate change.
Next to my research, I teach in the Political Science bachelor and master programmes of Radboud University. My courses include Sociology, Philosophy and Ethics of Research and Politics of Violence, and I also supervise bachelor and master theses, as well as PhD students.
In addition to all that, I represent the staff of our Faculty in the works’ council.
